November 30, 2015 - A Bald Eagle sits in the top of the big cottonwood tree along the draw in the Whitney pasture.

November 28, 2015 - It was three degrees below zero this morning.  The creek is beginning to freeze over.

November 27, 2015 - The Wyoming Fish and Game Department says there are 1100 elk in this herd behind Dot and Dash this morning.  Much of the herd is hidden by the contours of the land, still it is a remarkable sight.  It was -2F when I went out this morning.

November 26, 2016 - Happy Thanksgiving!

Feather iridescence can be amazing when the light is right.  I went to the archives for these photos.  What did you expect on Thanksgiving?

November 25, 2015 - Snow today, and the horses out back.

November 24, 2015 - Mule deer beneath a nearly full evening moon.

November 23, 2015 - A gaudy sunrise this morning.

November 22, 2015 - The cattail filled draw north of Hunky Hill and the mouth of the canyon.

November 21, 2015 - Bear with me, I know these are a lot of deer photos, but the rut is on and in a week or so the bucks will meld back into their coverts and be far less visible.  This mule deer doe and fawn are on Doubledare in the early morning light.  I like the yellow and blue.

November 20, 2015 - It snowed last night.  A whitetail buck and does along Big Goose Creek near Beckton.

November 19, 2015 - I rode out this morning to look for deer.  Birds turned out to be the order of the day.

November 18, 2015

The north wind blew like a banshee all night and all day today.  We had rain, sleet, hail and snow.

November 17, 2015 - A mule deer buck and doe in the mountain mahogany near the top of Teller Mesa.

November 16, 2015 - We took a drive up the mountain for a late breakfast this morning.  This is Bull Creek as it runs into the North Fork; this is moose country.

November 14, 2015 - Teller Mesa from Doubledare this morning at dawn.

November 13, 2015 - My fine friend, Britt, and I thirty-six autumns ago on October 1st.

Friday, November 13, 2015

November 12, 2015 - A Sharptail Grouse in the brush along the creek.

November 11, 2015 - Whitetail Deer

Tuesday, November 10, 2015

November 10, 2015 - We finally got Grandma's cabinet moved to the new back porch.

November 9, 2015 - A panoramic reflection at the Duck Pond.

Monday, November 9, 2015

November 8, 2015 - A healthy, heavy-bodied Mule Deer buck early this morning.  The rut is beginning.

November 7, 2015 - Big game on the fireplace; a Chipmunk with red osier in the background.

November 6, 2015 - The cabin this morning.

Thursday, November 5, 2015

November 5, 2015 - We had only a sliver of sunlight at dawn this morning.  Up the draw Steamboat, Sand Turn and Fallen City were glowing in the early light.

The deer had left trails through the snow and long grass heading toward the Duck Pond,

And the sunlight was just touching the tops of the trees at home.

November 4, 2015 - Our first snow of the season began this morning about 8am after an overnight rain.

November 3, 2015 - Three small whitetail bucks in the yard early this morning.  I have the Trailcam set up here.

November 2, 2015 - Pica pica.  A magpie silhouetted at dawn on the snag at the top of the old ponderosa tree at the Hiking House.

That beautiful old ponderosa is weathered, beaten, broken and struggling.

I am old enough to have seen a number of my favorite trees fall and die.  One was the lone cottonwood on the Lamar River, and another was the lookout cottonwood at the top of PK hill.  Sadly, this grand old ponderosa also seems to be losing the battle with time.  But it still remains steadfastly anchored to the sandstone.

Thankfully, nature has provided this young heir apparent at the Hiking House.

November 1, 2015 - This little buck seemed to be telling me, "I'll just hang around here in the yard until hunting season is over."  He is quite bold.

October 31, 2015 - Aspen, cottonwood, red osier, willow and wild rose leaves below the bridge to the studio.
