July 28, 2016 - We took a picnic up the mountain two evenings ago. It is unseasonably dry this summer. The only wildflowers left are at the very top of the pass on Highway 14A. Here are red, pink and pale yellow Indian Paintbrush, Sticky Geranium, Lupine and a few others along the slopes of Little Bald Mountain.

July 12, 2016 - There was a small fire up Wolf Canyon along the north face about two or three minutes away by helicopter today. The firefighters filled their bucket in the Duck Pond above the house and worked at it back and forth most of the day. They left about 6pm, and we haven't seen any more smoke. Thank You.

July 5, 2016 - Here are a few of the prairie wildflowers blooming now.
Purple Prairie Clover.
Mexican Hat, or Prairie Coneflower. Ninety-nine percent of these flowers are yellow,
But on rare occasions you encounter a red one like this.

This last one is called Horsemint, or Bee Balm, Lemon Mint, or Monarda. I like the names of all the wildflowers. Cowboy's Delight and Sky Pilot are probably my favorite wildflower names, maybe Elk's Lip.
