November 3, 2023 - Switzerland 10.03.23, day 1.  Arlesheim Switzerland; as far as I can tell every village, town, city, and canton (state) in Switzerland has a symbol and a flag.  A Medieval thing?  Arlesheim's symbol is an "azure wing".  Photos are of Birseck Castle above the village, and the spires of the Arlesheim Cathedral viewed from the apartment window.  We stayed in the second floor apartment of this  house built in 1681 AD on the village square.  The first known written record of Arlesheim was in 708 AD.
