November 6, 2023 - Switzerland 10.06.23, day 4.  Birseck Castle and grounds above Arlesheim are called the "Ermitage".  The castle takes it's name from it's location in the Bir River valley.  Numbers above the door on the gatekeeper's house (1703) are not an address.  It is the year the house was built.  The castle was built in 1243.
